This tour allowed Joris to forge new connections, experiment with new material, and enrich the group’s sound by incorporating trumpet in some performances. In 2020, the Joris Posthumus Group recorded their second album, JINSEI, in Nagoya, Japan. The title, meaning “human life” in Japanese, reflects the deep connections forged throughout the project. Building on the foundation of Tokyo’s Bad Boys, JINSEI expands its sound through dynamic collaborations with some of Japan’s most exciting jazz musicians. The album’s release in November 2024 was followed by a 12-concert tour across Japan, where each performance became a meeting of musical minds, bringing fresh energy and new interpretations to the music. Despite being recorded just before the global pandemic, Jinsei captures a sense of hope and positivity, making it a powerful statement in challenging times.
